There are a few things we know as the Goodboyz, Philadelphia, and Entertainment. It’s a very important part of our past, present, and rich culture. Collectively, we’ve been blessed to work, shadow, and shake hands with many great names in the business.
We humbly cherish those relationships that were carved along the way!
With all that, life, if you live long enough takes a serious turn with becoming a parent and adopting a sense of community. As our focus on our younger generations spiral downwards, our communities struggle to keep them positively engaged and most of all, our personal lack of involvement is becoming more and more a state of conviction.
We realize our lives have been compromised on many levels through government, social media, social issues, race, and cultural equality. Last but not least, we are losing the war by spectating and not implementing personal involvement and change for our youth from leaders like ourselves. We’ve learned along the way; to giving is the powerful part of receiving. Therefore, we are excited to implement and share with you…
The Goodboyz Experience is a personal development presentation shared through motivational speaking of how to develop your game and win. Arts and entertainment have awarded us the opportunity over the years to help many youths and adults with “Personal Development” along with Artist Development. These workshops and classes were a requirement with Record labels in past years. When this requirement was dropped, in many ways it cost the industry, the artists, and society greatly.
We are here to restore some of these precious losses. As the Keynote speakers, we will explore The Understanding and Realization of who we are… and the transition of becoming who we’re meant to be!
We believe the theme speaks for itself but within our presentation, we will share:
A.) Experiences and challenges and how important they are for strength and development.
B.) We will touch on Integrity, discovering you, your purpose, and the importance of “team you”!
C.) Lastly, the transition! The arrogance and focus to know you already won. These are just a few topics that will be intertwined with some other nuggets of the Experience! We can’t wait to meet you and share our journey, The Goodboyz Experience! Till then… -The Goodboyz
It was all a dream; I use to read Word Up Magazine. Salt and Pepper, Heavy D. Up in the limousine.
Ok… Nothing to do with our bio but great song. Matter of fact, it does mirror the Goodboyz personalities. Big Mark and Zeus are opposites on almost everything. Zeus loved Biggie; Big Mark loved Tupac.
Big Mark believed it was dancing, lights, and the full show, etc., Zeus believed it was the writing, vocal, and music production. They even differed on business ventures and ideas. One may wonder how they even survived in business… the answer is when they did agree, it was magic!
We both grew up in SW Philly, a few minutes from the Philadelphia INT. Airport. We had two housing project developments a block from each other. Big Mark grew up in one of the projects in a single-parent home, raised by his mother, along with his five siblings. Zeus is a block away in a house with both parents and son of a Pastor. We were both raised during the height of the crack epidemic. We both witnessed the outcome of it all by losing loved ones to jail, addiction, and death. Yes, many of the young souls we played wall ball, football, and tops with were lost at tender young ages. Somewhere along the way talents and divine intervention interceded in our journey. Although the world around us seemed to crumble and the peers we knew and loved to seemed to fall, we never gave up or broke stride. We focused on our escape, the dream. In short, we figured out our purpose and transitioned into becoming “The Who” we were meant to be.
Big Mark has personally worked and toured with “Boyz II Men”, LL Cool J, 50 Cent, to name a few. He has partnered with Projects to include Will Smith, Sean Puffy Combs, Jeezy, Chris Brown, Eva Pigford “Americas Top Model” and many more. From a humanitarian standpoint, Big Mark kept some fresh shenanigans in the name of being a chance taker and just a good spirit. He would pick up celebrities from the airport and bring them through our neighborhood for a short meet and greet on the way to the hotel or venue. Being such a great guy with the engaging conversation and Southwest Philly swag, the artist didn’t seem to mind. Big Mark also worked with several new artist along his journey. He would collect their demos with promises to get celebrities that he worked with to listen. These selfless deeds and relationship building strides kept artist loving him, both Major artist and hopefuls. Whether it was taking artist or their music to major radio stations in the city or building major show events, Big Marks purpose was very clear.
Zeus was sort of the person who stayed inside and created. Writing was his passion and escape. From music to film he was that guy. Raised in the church and somewhat guarded, he played various instruments and sang. Unlike Big Mark, he didn’t get out much, but was the kid in the neighborhood that did music. Along his writing journey he wrote Tupacs’, “I Ain’t Mad at Ya” video. Zeus wrote and produced Disney’s Coco Jones first single and produced the video. He AD’ the music video featuring Morgan Freeman entitled Guilt by Association turned feature. Zeus partnered with his daughter Deja to work with Andrew Lane, producer of Disney’s original High School Musical Soundtrack. Together, father and daughter wrote and produced songs for many new artists. Needless to say, with Big Mark’s hustle, industry ties, Zeus’s knowledge of music and varied levels of writing, the Goodboyz reality was born. From having their own singing group that won awards on various shows in the city to building and producing boy bands, they’ve touched it all. Too much to name but most important, with all life’s adversities and odds against them, they figured out their purpose and how to transition into who they were meant to be. We’re Ready to Share…
